My Role: UI/UX Designer
Led the full design process including competitive analysis, user flows, wireframes, visual design, and prototyping for a seamless customer-facing mobile app.
The Problem
Traditional laundromats often lack digital infrastructure — users wait in line, carry coins, or return later to check if their laundry is done. There was an opportunity to enhance convenience and efficiency through a mobile-first system that respects users’ time and expectations for modern service.
Design Goals
• Enable machine booking and availability tracking
• Support seamless, cashless payments
• Provide real-time wash/dry cycle tracking
• Minimize physical waiting time and uncertainty
• Offer a clean, accessible interface for all age groups
Design Process
1. User Research & Pain Points
Through surveys and short interviews, we identified key frustrations: waiting for machines, lack of payment options, and no status updates once a cycle begins.
2. UX Flows & Wireframes
Designed a simple user journey:
→ Locate nearby laundromat
→ View available machines
→ Book & pay
→ Get notified when laundry is done
→ Optionally rebook or get discounts for off-peak hours
3. Visual Language
Used soft, clean visuals with a light-hearted tone — approachable yet practical. Emphasized clarity, with large touch zones and simple step-by-step progress indicators for non-tech-savvy users as well.
4. Interaction Design
Notifications and real-time cycle timers were integrated to eliminate guesswork. A QR-based machine unlock system added security and convenience.
